All of it. At once.
My Story
I have never fit neatly into one lane. For a long time, I thought that was the problem. Now I know it's the point.
I am a singer-songwriter, an entrepreneur, a mother, a seeker. I have recorded five albums and performed on stages across Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Australia. I have built an award-winning real estate team, run a health food store, trained in Reiki and Huna healing and raised three children, one of whom lives with diabetes.
I didn't build a career. I built a life. And I paid attention to every part of it.
“I loved the rhythm and the poetry of the words and how music and song amplified it.”
It started at the piano.
I was six years old when music found me. I was the kid who woke up eager to play, obsessed with every note and melody. It wasn't a hobby. It was the place I went when I was struggling, frustrated, bored, heartbroken. My piano was my confidence.
I spent my twenties and thirties chasing that. Five albums. 58 songs. Stages I saved up to get to, tours I funded myself, a career I loved and wrestled with in equal measure.
Then one night, at 3am under a bridge in Buffalo, fixing a windshield wiper in the pouring rain after a solo gig in New York City, something in me shifted. My hands, used to dancing on piano keys, were wrestling with a wiper blade. I was exhausted, drenched and done. I decided it was time for a break.
That break turned into years.
“My piano was my confidence – the place I went to when I was struggling, frustrated, bored, heartbroken.”
The years that built everything else.
Marriage. Three kids. A health food store. And then Florian Realty – a real estate company I built from the ground up into an award-winning team.
I was good at it. I loved parts of it. But music was never far. I kept writing, even when there was barely time to breathe.
What I didn't fully understand then was that none of it was a detour. The business taught me to lead. Motherhood taught me to love without conditions. The hard seasons taught me to stop waiting.
In the ensuing years, while navigating the joys and challenges of marriage and welcoming 3 amazing kids, I explored different career paths – from managing a health store to founding Florian Realty, a real estate company I still operate today.
Despite every diversion, music was never far from me. Writing songs remained a constant, even when it was hard to find the time.
When the quiet of Covid lockdowns provided some unexpected breathing space, I found myself returning, once again, to my first love. The result is my new single, “Works of Art” - a testament that our paths, no matter how winding, lead us back to where we need to be.
